BERLIN SONGWRITER.
What a mad, creative week! After last week's effort to write the songs in "Songwriting Ain't Easy", this week's video is about the first day of the recording studio session.
I am unsure if this is how to write a song or how not to write a song - but I know that somehow, my madness works for me.
Music production is often the emphasis of modern music.
For me, it is all about the song. That's what you have to get right.
How we use deadlines is up to us. But for me, to try to stick to them is like a religious principle.
You have to bet on yourself and trust in life.
Yes, we can fail.
But by risking failure - by risking everything - we invite the potential for magic to enter our lives.
I'm greatly enjoying inviting you all in behind the scenes. I'm realising that this album is about the process for me.
The process is "the product."
I have no idea what it will be, but sharing it along the way—laying bare the process—is giving me a sense of renewal.
We are constantly discovering and learning about the songwriting process.
Part of the reason I'm writing this way is that I'm juggling so much work (photography and film jobs, as well as my own podcast and creative life)—and so it's either I take on the creative challenge, or I let it slide.
I don't want to procrastinate.
I want to go after Apex Living. A heightened experience.
My three tips for overcoming procrastination:
1) Set a publicly accountable deadline
2) Book a studio
3) Accept there will be panic
4) Never cancel
5) Go in no matter how underprepared you feel
6) Trust the process
7) Invite in the creative spirit of those around you.

I'm so thankful to him and his beautiful new studio, Lonepine Studios. Big up, Andre too!
