Why Isagi's Ego is NOT Victory At Any Cost
In recent chapters (chapter 284, 285, 286), Blue Lock protagonist Yoichi Isagi adopted a philosophy of winning above all, at the cost of his soul. So what to make of these developments? This analysis explores Isagi's newfound mentality through the lens of his ongoing character conflict, namely his regret in chapter 1 of having made an assist versus shooting without hesitation. Moreover, it shows that Isagi's new developments fit in with a wider trend of character writing in the Neo Egoist League: in the NEL, main characters (Kunigami, Reo, Nagi, Barou, Kaiser, Rin) all take two steps forward, one step backward. This video shows that Isagi is making a similar move: as a talented learner, he returns to his origin (the theme of PXG), but he misinterprets the moment that turned him into an egoist striker.
