Poison frogs
Poison frogs refer to a group of frogs native to Central and South America; they belong to the family Dendrobatidae, with over 170 species. These species are small, measuring only a few centimetres; a large number are brightly coloured and poisonous. The poison frog is also called poison dart frog and poison arrow frog because Native Americans reportedly rubbed their darts with their toxins and used them to hunt. Though, only three species of these frogs have been recorded to be for this purpose.
