Welcome to Animal WorldPlus, in a previous episode, we talked about frogs, but today we will be talking about a special kind of frog; they are often called the jewels of the rainforest for their eye-catching colours and beautiful patterns. Today’s episode is all about poison frogs. Poison frogs refer to a group of frogs native to Central and South America; they belong to the family Dendrobatidae, with over 170 species. These species are small, measuring only a few centimetres; a large number are brightly coloured and poisonous. The poison frog is also called poison dart frog and poison arrow frog because Native Americans reportedly rubbed their darts with their toxins and used them to hunt. Though, only three species of these frogs have been recorded to be for this purpose.
