Frog Biology
Frogs are amphibians belonging to the order Anura, which in ancient Greek means ‘without tail’. There are over 7000 species of frogs that are spread across 54 families; they are 88% of the amphibian population. Frogs are generally characterised by short bodies, wide mouths, large protruding eyes, moist smooth skin and long hind legs with webbed feet. There is a family of frogs that have shorter hind legs and rough textured and much drier skins; they are called toads.
