Königsjodler Klettersteig Juni 2017 I Via Ferrata C/D auf den Hochkönig (June)
The Königsjodler Klettersteig at the Hochkönig mountain in Salzburg is a very popular Via Ferrata with a difficulty up to grade C. Due to it`s length and exposition it is meant to be on of the most difficult Ferratas in the Eastern Alps. 1700 meters of altitude want to be climbed until you reach the summit cross at 2941 meters on top of Hochkönig.
We climbed the Ferrata on a perfect day in June 2017 under the best imagiable conditions within a little more than six hours from the parking lot of Erichhütte to the exiton top of "Hoher Kopf" where the summit register is located. It took us another 30 minutes to cross several snow patches on the way to the Hochkönog summit and the Matrashaus where we stayed overnight. The next day we descended in about three hours via the normal route to Arthurhaus as the Birgkar still had way too much snow and still was too dangerous.
If you think about tackling this Ferrata, please make sure you have the adaequate climbing skills, the stamina and endurance & a very good weather forecast for the day - but now HAVE FUN WATCHING!
