After about two weeks of use, my new Hornby Advanced Passenger Train started to develop a really annoying high pitch squeak. It started out being noticeable at really slow speeds but progressively got louder and more annoying. Noticeable enough that someone pointed it out in one of the recent APT videos.
In this video I tracked the problem down to the wheel / contact surface area and show how to fix it.
