This fabulous group was led by Johnny Maestro, formerly the lead singer of the Crests, a group he left in 1960 to embark on a solo career. Segue to 1967 and Johnny together with some former members of the Del Satins formed a band comprising a vocal group and a brass section, the Brooklyn Bridge.
They took their cue form the 5th Dimension and debuted with a cover of a track from the 5D’s 2nd album, “The Magic Garden”, a Jimmy Webb song titled, “The Worst That Could Happen”. Entering the Hot-100 in December, 1968, the disc made it to #3.
A self-titled album followed and that made it to # 54 on the album chart.
We lost Johnny Maestro in March 2010. The ex-members of the Del Satins have also passed too, Fred Ferrara in October 2011 and Les Cauchi in March 2020. RIP gentlemen and thanks for the music!
