Hey, it’s Matt! In this video, I’m going to show you how to convert a BMP file to a PNG using a website called CloudConvert.
I use CloudConvert for a bunch of different file conversions, and it’s super easy to use. You can find it at cloudconvert.com/bmp-2-png, and I’ll drop that link in the description below so you can just click on it and get started.
To kick things off, we need to upload an image. Just click on the "Select" button, and when that opens up, navigate to where your BMP file is located.
I’ve got mine in an images folder, so I’ll grab it from there. Now, just a heads up—Mac OS doesn’t really play nice with BMP files, so you might not see a preview.
But don’t worry, you can still convert BMP files on both Mac and Windows without any issues. Once I’ve selected my BMP file, I’m ready to convert it to PNG.
Next, I just hit the red "Convert" button. Now we just wait a few seconds while CloudConvert does its magic.
You’ll see the processing status, and it’s pretty cool—they’ve converted over 19 terabytes of files! After a little bit, we’ll see that our PNG file is ready.
Just to share a fun fact, the image I converted is actually a picture of the bottom of my mouse, but I won’t get into that story right now. When the PNG opens up, it should auto-save, but if it doesn’t, just click the green "Download" button.
That’ll save the file to wherever your browser keeps downloaded files. Let me check mine.
I can see the new PNG file here. It’s got the same name as the original BMP, so it’s just a copy.
And look at that—it was converted just a minute after I started! So there you have it!
