The National Medical Director of Oftalvist Clinics, Dr. Pedro Tañá Rivero, explains the side effects that may appear after lasik refractive surgery.
What side effects does Lasik surgery have?
Lasik corneal refractive surgery can have different side effects.
The first and the most frequent is dry eye. The pathology of our time due to the use of computers, air conditioners, tablets, etc., is dry eye, and in a patient who has undergone Lasik surgery, this secondary effect of dry eye is more pronounced.
Another secondary effect can be halos or small glare around the lights, that already depends on the graduation that we correct, the diameter of the pupil that we treat....
Other side effects would already be technical problems or cases not indicated in surgery that would lead to poor visual quality in the postoperative period.
But that is an exception and that is why many previous screening tests are done to determine if the patient is suitable for this surgery.
