ELECTRIBE 2 ARPEGGIO: Part 3 - Track Pad Techniques
The number one missing thing in the new Electribes is the simple ability to make proper Arpeggios like in the Korg ESX/EMX. It used to be as simple as holding down amount of notes you wanted in your Arpeggio. While I love my Electribe 2 I can understand how this has caused issues with Electribe purists. In this quick 3 part video series I am sharing my "work-arounds" to get proper "sounding" Arpeggios for my music and for my band Toaster Music using Korgs Electribe 2 and Sampler.
This is the most under used / under appreciated part of the E2/ES2 series. However for a former Kaossilator Pro user, this was the part I was most excited for when the E2 first came out.
After the FW 1.10 came out the E2 Kaoss Pad was greatly improved! In fact it operates exactly as it should...just like a Kaossilator or more accuratly exactly like the DS10's (Korg app for nintendo) Kaoss pad. No weird odd timing. So that being said...
...First make sure you are in a scale and key you like. Set your track pad range to 1 or 2 octave (go to global for this) and set your systems last step range to 4 - 8. Go into Gate Arp menu and choose 1 (for right now). Make sure you are in Keyboard mode to freely change the octave of your Track pad. Now play your notes exactly half way down the track pad and go in the line direction you want the arpeggio to be.
A couple additional tips with this method: for one thing some oscillators work better than others when you have the amp set to "ON". Another tip is the Gate Arp menu is your best friend! I almost always have this menu on when I perform to change the arpeggio patterns...really helpful, more than you can imagine when using the track pad. Try different arpeggio patterns with this method; ones in the 40's are fun!
It takes a bit of practice to make this work but this is the absolute best way to get the kind of control you want in creating arpeggios in an instant.
