Place Value: Understanding Base Ten (Day 30)
One of the strangest concepts covered in 5th is understanding place values when looking at base ten numbers. We focus on what happens when we multiply by base ten numbers (10, 100, 1000) what happens when we divide by base ten numbers (10, 100, 1000) and what happens when we multiply by base ten FRACTIONS (1/10, 1/100, 1/1000)
It ends up being a pattern in which you simply "jump your decimal." In this video we answer where to jump the decimal, how far do we jump the decimal, and what do we do when there is no decimal!
