Peachy Georgia Trains - Norfolk Southern South District Division
What was once a bloodline of vital grains and goods for the southern United States, is now a long, inter-connected network of trains that travel throughout the country. Gone are the days of railroads having multiple gauges throughout Georgia; now just sticking to the standard 4ft. 8.5 inches.
Rather than mostly cotton and grain transported by rail, nowadays the south mostly sees intermodals and autoracks with the occasional coal train. In this series of videos, we’ll look at some of Norfolk Southern’s Georgia Division lines that operate within the great peach state. While not as busy as the Chicago Line or the Transcon, the railroads here makeup for it in some very scenic shots that are worth the wait.
