Amtrak 819 - Catenary Test Train - 4/28/2021
Overtime I was hearing talk of an Amtrak train traveling from Chicago to Detroit via the Michigan Line throughout the week of April 26th and decided to intercept them in Battle Creek, MI.
This train was operating on the Michigan Line to see if any adjustments need to be made to the track geometry before electrifying the line. It's unclear right now whether Amtrak will go through with the project, and if they do, whether they'll use catenary lines or if they'll install a 3rd rail across the entire line. This would help save costs and reduce pollution.
