TL:DR - Build your knowledge of Hip Hop.

People are full of deep emotions. They have vibrant feelings about many things in the world, but potentially these are not the same things that you are studying.

Comparing what you are studying to a topic that someone is passionate about can be a useful projective technique.

Understanding a product, brand or service in the context of one's passions allows your participant to speak about the topic in question with a higher level of sophistication and discernibility.

For example. If your participant is a huge hip hop fan...
If this brand was a famous MC who would it be and why?
Who is the greatest rapper of all time?

This works in both online and offline. It's useful for Qualitative, UX, Ethnographic and Strategy work.
