Hey, it's Matt, and today I'm going to show you how to convert a PDF to Excel format. Maybe you have a small ebook or a workbook you want to turn into a spreadsheet for some reason.
The tool I recommend is iLovePDF, or iHeartPDF—whichever you prefer. It’s an online converter that you can find at ilpdf.com/pdf2xl.
Don’t worry; I’ll drop that link in the description below so you can easily find it. Getting started is super simple.
Just click the red button that says "Select PDF file." I’ve got a folder set up with some images and PDFs I’ve been working on, so I’ll grab this PDF file, which is actually a workbook for my product, Video Business Fast Forward. Once I open the PDF, I can see a preview.
It’s 27 pages and about 1.36 megabytes. There’s an option for OCR, but you’ll need to pay for that feature.
For most cases, though, you won’t really need it. Now, let’s talk about layout.
You can choose to have one sheet or multiple sheets in your Excel file. I’m going to go with multiple sheets, which will create a separate sheet for each of the 27 pages.
Next, I’ll scroll down and hit the red and white button that says "Convert to Excel." It doesn’t take long, and just like that, iHeartPDF has converted my PDF into an Excel spreadsheet. I noticed it auto-downloaded, but if it doesn’t do that for you, just click the download button again.
It’ll save to your default location, which on my Mac using Google Chrome is the Downloads folder. Let me show you where mine is stored.
I’ll drag it in, and here’s the XLSX version of the file. The "X" at the end means it’s an Excel file.
You can open it in Excel or even use it in Google Sheets since it accepts Excel documents too. So, I hope you found this video on converting a PDF to an Excel spreadsheet helpful.
