Dr. Kwansoo Lee: Most of our dental implants are placed with guided surgery and so far, we've had amazing success. The benefits of a guided dental implant surgery is that when patients come in, we take the records with the 3D X-ray and digital scan. And we can use those files and put in our software and me and my designer, we can go ahead and design the ideal placement of the crown and the implants are placed according to that. And so, then we're starting with teeth in mind, right? Because if we just went and place the dental implant without planning, the implants can be placed in a wrong angle. And then the restoration that goes on top of the implant could be off. It could be too much to the left or right or front, and the back. And so, guided surgery allows us to go ahead and prevent that from occurring. And since we know where the implant is to be placed in the jaw, typically, it's less amount of gums we have got pushed away. So, as less trauma to the area and we recovery time becomes faster. There are occasions where free hand placements are necessary.

For example, on occasion where we do free handing dental implant surgery will be when patients come in, they broke a tooth at the gum line, on the front. And typically, what we like to do is on the day of the surgery, when we go and take the tooth out, we would like to place a dental implant as same day and often times we can go and put a temporary tooth on top of the implant. So on the day of the surgery, you're walking away with the tooth in the front so you don't have a gap there. And even that, we go through proper treatment planning, where we really study the 3D X-ray. And when we're free handing it, we already kinda know where the implants needs to go in the ideal spot. And so, we had a lot of success to throw in free hand surgery also. If you want to learn, if you're a good candidate for dental implants or all on X procedure, please give us a call. We offer a complimentary consultation with 3D X-ray and we can discuss the treatment plan that works the best for you.
