Four Countdowns have gone by without the presence of vistlip.
It's been long enough. The Prince will appear now. And 13 will Debut. Amid the multitude of gems, Jupiter stands tough. But in the end, the question is: will it defend the Throne?
Allow me to begin by addressing my absolute fascination towards Black Gene For the Next Scene (BGFNS). I talked about it briefly last time, but not enough was said. "Cynical Work" is a divine beauty eclipsed by only few and far in between. The composure is magnificent, the instrumentals captivate one's heart, the vocals strike far above and beyond imagination, and the lyrics unite those elements to form a masterpiece. You couldn't ask for more.
True, BGFNS is an indie artist, but the indie music scene is like a treasure chest of fascinating music. Draft King and Rosario Ark are two examples of such work. Both are quality bands with very limited publicity. I would strongly recommend listening to the Draft King song in full, as it is outstanding (it's on YouTube, if you're interested, copy and paste "Draft King アブラカダブラ" in to the search bar).
And then we bands like the Raid, who has slightly more publicity. The latest in a string of marvels is "raison d'être" which roughly means "reason to live" in French. I like deep music, and with no doubt this is deep. Not as deep, however, as the Opening Theme of this countdown - "Rensou Rain" by Zin The lyrics were no where to be found online - in Japanese or English - and it is truly a shame. The indie music scene features countless songs with breathtaking lyrics, yet most of them go unnoticed because you can't find them online. If only I had time, I would gladly translate the song in full.
Changing topics, I do realize Do As Infinity is slightly out of date for a Debut - I apologize as I didn't realize "Believe in You" was featured on that Best Album released back in New Year's Day. I really like the upbeat hook - haven't really heard anything of this kind since "1/100" back in 2010.
Lastly, saving the discussion of Previews until next week, we have MinstreliX. This musical perfection was something I didn't really come in prepared for. "CHRONOSTRINGS" is already their fourth album yet I had never paid any real attention to them. That is, until now. One day, some how some way, I heard this scenic beauty. The instrumentals that motivate my soul, the heart-racing composure of the hook, the PV, and just about everything else about this song completely, and without prior warning, stole my heart,
