Final Racing by Front FarEast Industrial Corporation / Midas Interactive, 1997

Released somewhere between 1997-1998, Final Racing (aka Final Racing: Cyber Space 2001) is a lovely-looking, but poor-playing futuristic racer. This one is the "Hot Blood" edition, which might have some extra content, I'm not sure! There was a "Final Racing SE" edition too, but I can't find much out about that.

I'm running the game under Windows 10 here but using some Compatibility Administrator Toolkit tweaks here (the EmulateCDFS option, if you're into that sort of thing). I'm also using dgVoodoo2 to fix some graphic glitches, though it's not perfect, as the shadow under your ship is textured, when it should be black! It's possible to run it better using DxWnd but I couldn't get my copy to work (and it's not worth any more time, given this game isn't great!).

Some other tips: lock the frame rate to 30-40fps using NVIDIA Control Panel (or similar), otherwise the computer-controlled ships will race off far faster than you, and you'll never see them again!

This video shows one lap of every track in the game, at the original max 640x480 resolution (scaled up to show beautiful pixels, and enhanced with anti-aliasing). You can push the resolution much higher with dgVoodoo2 though, should you desire.

The music's quite good in this game, but the sound effects and handling are pretty poor. Worse, if you touch another ship (even if one bumps you from behind), you'll both come to a complete standstill, which just isn't fun!

Overall a high production-value but poor playing budget futuristic racing game.
