The Crew Motorfest by Ivory Tower / Ubisoft, 2023.

The third title in The Crew series moved the Forza Horizon style competition over to Hawaii's Oahu island. Unlike Test Drive Unlimited, the island feels a bit smaller, but more packed with content, including a non-real volcano, to drive around!

There are a number of fantasy Alpha Grand Prix cars in the game, plus two real-life Red Bull cars, the RB13 (from 2017, as included in The Crew 2) and the RB18 (from 2022). In this video I mostly use the RB13, as you can change the skin applied, turning it into other rival teams :-D The RB18 can only use official Red Bull livery, so I show this one in the spray effects clip below.

Overall this is an arcade racing affair, where you can transform from a plane to an F1 car high up in the sky, fall to earth, and carry on racing undamaged (maybe some scratches!); it's fun but dumb. I think of it as a touch more realistic than the Forza Horizon games, but just as much fun.

I should also add that my older PC struggles a touch here. But what's the odd dropped frame these days :-)

1. Race Start (Monza): 0:00 No one has made a Williams skin yet, so I'm dressed up as an Alpha Tauri instead! As you can see, some close racing here, but no real risk of damage!

2. Spray Effects (Silverstone): 0:33 Here's the RB18, it's rather hard to drive whilst panning the camera around! The wet-weather is fairly low-key (unless you race in a near-dark thunderstorm). And yes, soft slick tyres in the rain... no issue at all!

3. Tunnel & View (Monaco): 0:53 Racing though Honalulu, smashing across the rooftops, in a McLaren skin. Notice how the inner of the rear wing uprights are always Red Bull cola sponsors though!

4. Wet Track (Spa-Francorchamps): 1:27 A Spa-like section here, in a Ferrari skin. Look how nice the soft slick tyres look in the rain. Lucky they're so grippy!

5. Pitstop (Interlagos): 1:49 Pitstops ARE a thing, or your tyres wear out and you spin all the time. Your car doesn't really get damaged though, so it's just a tyre stop here. Nice Aston Martin skin!

6. Huge Crash (Montreal): 2:06 An Alpine skin here for a big crash. No damage, apart from a scuffed front wing. Lucky the tyre stacks are as light as balloons!
