Scorcher by Zyrinx / Scavenger, 1996
Essentially zorb ball racing, but in fancy green laser balls, on difficult winding tracks.
Created by a team of Amiga demo scene programmers, this one has some nice effects, given it's entirely a non-accelerated 3D engine. Some funky music too!
Here I do a lap of the first 4 stages, from behind and in-car, I mean in-ball!
It's not an easy game, and feels much like a modern take on the classic 8-bit racer Trailblazer.
It's a tad unfortunate that the green clouds of boost seem to emit from the rider's backside though!
One of the hardest things to get right is running the DOS version in DOSbox without massive vsync breakup lines appearing. I managed to do this in the end using DOSbox DAUM.
