Food Inflation: Lagos Set To Commence "Ounje Eko" Phase 2, Targets 25% Discount
The Lagos State Government has announced the commencement of Phase II of Ounje Eko Food Discount Market on September 1, with a 25% discount on prices.
Commissioner for Agric and Food Systems, Abisola Olusanya who announced this at a media briefing in Alausa, Ikeja, said all preparations are complete.
The commissioner said the governor gave the approval in a bid to further reduce the impact of high food prices.
Olusanya noted that the programme became more pertinent with food inflation reaching 40.9, placing the price of staple food items beyond the reach of many households.
She also clarified that the 25% discount would be based on the prevailing market prices.
