I use 1.5 pounds of stoneware clay to create this ceramic juicer on the potters wheel. After it's been fired in the kiln, it's the right size for lemons and limes.
A few tips:
1.) Leave plenty of clay in the middle so that you'll be able to carve out the grooves without creating a hole.
2.) Open the clay all the way to the batt.
3.) I think it's easier to carve the juicing grooves while the clay is still really soft - but you can also wait until it's leather hard to do.
