The life of a ceramic bowl from clay to table

This is whole process from wedging the clay, throwing on the potters wheel, trimming the piece, and waxing and glazing. It takes about a month to make it's way from a ball of clay to the table. (I didn't include the two firings in the kiln. The first firing as a piece of greenware to be bisque'd, and the second in the gas reduction kiln to vitrify the clay.)
These bowls are thrown from 1lb each of a stoneware red clay and a stoneware black - 2 lbs total per bowl. I wedge the clay, slice in half each ball and then slap the two halves together. I'm careful not to cone too much on the wheel when centering to keep the clays from mixing. After the bowls are trimmed I add a coat of porcelain slip so that the white glaze will be nice and free of iron spots from the clay.
