I use a black, a red, and a white stoneware to create these colorful planters. They can be a bit tricky to throw because each clay behaves a little differently - despite them all being groggy stonware. Usually, I'll wedge, assemble the clays together, and then bag them and let any moisture differences between the them balance out as they sit. When throwing I can feel the texture and pliability changes between the clays as I pull up. So it means moving a little slower and being patient. I also try not to cone too much on the wheel so the clays won't mix and I'll get that marbled look.

Try it yourself and make some marbled planters on the wheel.
