NL// De heuvels van Limburg bieden op het eerste gezicht stralende natuur, leegte, nostalgie. Onderliggend aan deze schoonheid beïnvloeden verschillende processen Limburgs Dierbaar Oord. Limburg ambieert de meest duurzame provincie van Nederland te worden... maar dat heeft zijn doorwerking in het landschap.
In een film van Jules van den Langeberg, word je meegenomen in het absurdisme dat achter het Limburgse Landschap schuilt. Door de route na te reizen, door in de decors te treden en het script te lezen, waan je je als onzichtbare kijker in een zelfgekozen rol en in een land dat haar geheimen niet zo snel prijsgeeft.
SYNOPSIS// In het stille Nieuwstad regeert de traditie, nazaten van oude vruchtbaarheidsrituelen zoals de Meiboom. Als in Nieuwstad een zelfbewust duo arriveert dat niet zomaar congrueert met de politieke correctheid, de kleinburgerlijke nood aan status quo van het onveranderlijke stadje, wat gebeurt er dan? Kan Burendag nog onverstoord doorgaan?
ENG// At a first glance, the Limburgish hills seem to offer nothing but radiant nature, emptiness, nostalgia. Underlying this serene beauty various processes work upon merry old Limburg. Limburg aspires to become the Netherlands' most sustainable province... but this has its inevitable consequences for the landscape.
In a short film by Jules van den Langenberg, you are toured around the absurdism that lies behind the Limburgish Landscape. By travelling along the route, visiting the stages of the scenes and reading the script of the film, you become the invisible onlooker taking on a rol of your own choosing in a land that doesn't readily reveal its many secrets.
SYNOPSIS// In quiet New Town, tradition reigns, progeny of ancient fertility rituals, like the May tree. When a self-conscious duo newly arrives in New Town and doesn't simply congrue with the exisiting political correctness and petty-bourgeois craving for status quo in the never-changing town, what happens then? Will there still be Neigbour Day?
