Love in a Mist - de architectuur van vruchtbaarheid
NL// Deze tentoonstelling brengt het verhaal over de architectuur van vruchtbaarheid, over de ruimte gevormd door maatschappelijke opvattingen, over de vrouwen die meters maken voor de volgende generaties. In deze tentoonstelling tonen we heldinnen, de dames op de barricades en de ruimtelijke gevolgen waarbij de strijd om zelfbeschikking over het lichaam en regulering van de vruchtbaarheid de spil van de expositie vormen.
De positie van de vrouw en de strijd om de vruchtbaarheid is af te lezen in de natuur en in de ontworpen omgeving. De geschiedenis toont barricades die zijn bevochten, gebouwen die speciaal voor vrouwen zijn opgericht, vernuftige technieken en wetenschap, en de natuur die is veranderd. Hierbij is de politiek van vruchtbaarheid, van de maatschappelijke onderwerping aan een patriarchale economie en de durf om in opstand te komen tegen de gevestigde orde, een proces dat tot vandaag de dag actueel is.
Bureau Europa heeft curator Malkit Shoshan (Harvard Graduate School of Architecture and Design) uitgenodigd om het onderzoek en de expositie Love in a Mist hier te presenteren. Remco Beckers (curator Bureau Europa) heeft de expositie voorzien van een lokale context.

ENG// This exhibition interweaves narratives about the architecture of fertility, the space shaped by social attitudes, and the women who ensure a better future for upcoming generations. At this exhibition’s core are the heroines, the ladies on the barricades, the spatial consequences of the struggle for self-determination of the body and fertility regulation.
Women’s position and the fertility struggle can be traced in that natural world and the designed environment. History reveals barricades that have been fought over, buildings constructed especially for women, ingenious techniques and science and a changing natural world. The politics of fertility, the social subordination to a patriarchal economy, and the courage to rebel against the established order is a process that remains relevant.
Bureau Europa invited curator Malkit Shoshan (Harvard Graduate School of Architecture and Design) to present her research and exhibition project Love in a Mist. Bureau Europa’s curator Remco Beckers elaborates on the exhibition through the prism of our region’s context.
