This is a slightly longer video than normal and does not require a warm up as it can be done as a stand alone class.
Due to our sedentary lifestyles, where we spend a lot of our day seated our babies naturally may fall in to a back to back position. An occipito-posterior or back to back position is not the best position to deliver in and can cause labours to be prolonged and more uncomfortable. Spending time in the weeks leading up to your due date practicing positions and movements, which may help your baby move in to a more amenable position for birth can be really beneficial from around 32 weeks.
I'd love to hear your comments below about your pregnancy and what you might have done to help your baby align for birth.
I would recommend trying to practice this sequence several times a week, or whenever you have time, to encourage your baby to settle in the occipitoanterior (OA) back of head to the front of your body position.
in pregnancy offers fantastic benefits to your health and wellbeing. It can help with strength and toning and help prevent excessive weight gain in pregnancy and unlike other forms of exercise can bring positive benefits for your mental health, bringing a sense of calm and relaxation in to your day.
Group classes may advise against practice prior to 12 weeks, this is not because yoga should cause any harm to your baby, but due to the increased risk of miscarriage in the first trimester, which exists in all pregnancies. Please bear this in mind when deciding to carry out your practice.
