Hello and welcome to this video.

First off, OpenOffice has released a new update. I thought, as explained in the video, that OpenOffice or the company Apache wouldn't be releasing any further updates for the OpenOffice project, since version 4.1.15 has been publicly available for quite some time.

You can read about the progress of the project on the OpenOffice blog.

Since version 4.1.15, the OpenOffice blog has been less active, at least for those who have followed it. Previously, the blog was frequently filled with updates. Now, the blog isn't as active as it used to be.

What I want to say here is that if you don't like or support OpenOffice, you don't have to use it.

There's LibreOffice, and there are several other office suite alternatives you can use.

No one has to download or even use OpenOffice. I use OpenOffice because I started using this software early on, so I was familiar with it. I used to use Microsoft Word 2007, but upgrading to newer versions is very expensive in the long run, so I switched to OpenOffice a while back. I was already familiar with and used OpenOffice back in the XP days.

All in all, the future of OpenOffice is uncertain. I'd venture to say that anyone who worked with OpenOffice when it was first released knows about its update history, or rather, how it used to receive frequent updates.

Sincerely,
