The Bigung was originally a joint development project between South Korea and the United States, but the US abandoned it midway. At the time, the US intended to use it as a weapon system to prevent suicide attacks from small boats. However, the current threat is no longer that serious, and there are serious problems.

Ukraine's successful attack on Russian ships was not due to a single attack by an unmanned attack vessel, but rather a combined attack with anti-ship missiles. Simultaneous attacks by multiple anti-ship missiles and unmanned attack vessels on a single vessel made it impossible to defend against mere defensive measures. This led Middle Eastern countries to rapidly adopt the Bigung. Furthermore, with the changing battlefield environment, the Bigung is now a weapon system essential not only for fleets but also for air-to-ships. Therefore, standardization of the Bigung is necessary. Whether the US or Europe develops it, it cannot match Korea's price, and further development time and costs are required.

The US has begun developing an anti-aircraft gun based on a 155mm self-propelled howitzer.

Foreign media outlets have reported that South Korea could export 300 to 500 K2 tanks to Romania.
