A quick video snippet as an outtake from a project which was for drone photography as part of a visual survey of Beaumaris Castle for CADW in Wales.
Despite appalling weather we managed to undertake a visual survey of Beaumaris Castle set in the glorious surrounds of the Isle of Anglesey, with the Snowdonian mountain range as a backdrop across the Menai Strait. Unfortunately the rain and clouds prevented any pretty pictures, and as always, our full concentration to deliver the technical survey work first.
Castell Bewmares (Welsh) and from the Beau Mareys (Norman), was started in 1295 by Edward I as part of his dominance of Wales, but never finished to its full height. Nevertheless it is a supreme example of near-symmetric concentric defence with its inner and outer walls. Some say the most beautiful of the Welsh castles and is certainly very atmospheric and well worth a visit!
