The Saab 35 Draken: A Mach 2 Classic
The Saab 35 Draken is a Swedish fighter aircraft that was designed in the 1950s. It was one of the first fighters to be designed with a delta wing, and it was also one of the first to be equipped with a swing-wing. This made the Draken a very versatile aircraft, and it was capable of performing a wide range of missions, including air superiority, ground attack, and reconnaissance.
The Draken was powered by a single Rolls-Royce Avon turbojet engine, which gave it a top speed of Mach 2.2. It was armed with a variety of weapons, including air-to-air missiles, air-to-ground missiles, and cannons.
The Draken was a very successful aircraft, and it was exported to a number of countries, including Austria, Denmark and Finland,. It remained in service with the Swedish Air Force until 1999.
