Motor Boat Safari is another mode of watching wildlife at Kabini - Nagarhole National Park. This video was shot from a moving motor boat on one such motor boat safari. Though we were not hopeful of spotting any elephants, as the elephant herds had migrated out of the area in to the forest of Kerala. But fortunately there were couple of elephant that we were able to spot on the bandipur side of the kabini reservoir bank. This tusker was engrossed in taking dust bath.
Kabini which is also known as Nagarhole National Park or Rajiv Gandhi National Park, is situated app 250 km from Bengaluru and app 90 km from Mysore. We had booked our stay at the Bison Wilderness Resort, which is the closest most resort to the park boundary of all resorts in Kabini. Also the location of this resort at the reservoir banks give clear views of the park forest of Kabini and Bandipur. I must say, the location is one of the most beautiful locations in all of the Kabini resorts. I could say this as I had visited Kabini River Lodge (operated by the govt of Karnataka body Jungle Lodges and Resorts) during the same visit and The Serai Kabini in mid 2014. And both the resorts are amongst the best in Kabini, I still would rate the location of Bison Resort as best amongst these resorts. The highlight of Kabini are the Big Cats - Tigers and Leopards, and to spot these cats you have to take Jungle Safari. One can explore Kabini Forest in two ways - Jungle Jeep Safari and Motor boat Safari through the kabini reservoir backwaters. Jungle safari is not always about Tiger sighting. There are lot of other natural history moments that you can witness and this Kabini visit gave us one outstanding natural history moment to cherish. Enjoy the video.
