This video provides information on location and direction to one of the birding sites within Mumbai City i.e. Bhandup Pumping Station. Bhandup Sewage Pumping Station is located in the North East part of Mumbai Metropolitan Region. The site is actually a sewage treament plant and sewage pumping station where sewerage and gray water from the mumbai city is treated before being dumped in to the Thane Creek. The proximity to Thane creek, Mangroves and mudflats makes offers a range of habitats that can support many different species of birds.
A Mangrove wetland centre was proposed at this location on the lines of Mai Po Wetland Park located in Hong Kong. The innaugration for this project was done way back in 2008, you can see the inauguration stone in the video, which is still there at the location. Years have passed but the centre which was supposed to be completed by now is stuck in the roadblocks of various approvals and permissions from EIA athotities and government agencies.
This video is not about the Centre but about the fact that such a birding hotspot is located within the Mumbai City Limits. It provides location shown in the Google Map at the begining and the directions to the site in order some one wants to visit the place.
