Step 1: Start by getting the Windows 8 & 8.1 OS using the connection below. You can also look at other places or pick a trusted website to stay secure.

Step 2: It is really easy to create a virtual PC on our computers. First, open the VirtualBox program from Oracle. Once it's run, click the New in the top menu or the shortcut tools panel. So, you will see a simple wizard to help you set up your virtual machine. It will guide you through each step to make sure everything is perfect. You can choose a name for your virtual OS, select the type of operating system, and decide how much memory to use.
Step 3: In the Name setting, type Windows 8.1 in the Name box. So, you will set the type & version automatically in VirtualBox. If you want to save your VM in a different place, you can change the location in the Machine Folder. Storing the VM on a portable disk is also a great idea.
Step 4: In the Memory setting, specify the amount based on your PC's RAM. Choose the right amount of RAM for your Windows 8.1 virtual machine. It's a good idea to pick at least 4GB as the minimum RAM.
Step 5: You will want to create a new virtual disk for your Windows 8/8.1 VM. The good news is that the option to make a vdisk is enabled by default. So, just click Next to proceed! If you have a previously installed Win8 virtual disk, select the Add an existing virtual HDD option. Then, you can choose the virtual disk with the VDI extension from your physical disk.
Step 6: The VDI (VirtualBox Disk Image) option is enabled by default. You can use this option. Let's review the other disk types. VHD is the virtual disk file used by Microsoft. VMDK is used by software like VMware Workstation; if you are using Oracle software, the VDI disk file!
Step 7: After clicking Next, check where the file will be stored in the File Location & Size window of the virtual HDD. If you want to change it, click on its icon and select the most suitable place. Also, the program will automatically set a minimum of 50 GB of disk space for your Windows 8.1 virtual machine.
Step 8: After setting up your Windows 8 virtual machine, click on Settings to add the ISO file to your VM. You can also customize a few critical settings.
Step 9: To make file sharing easier, set the Shared Clipboard + Drag & Drop things to Bidirectional in your virtual machine's settings.
Step 10: In the System or Motherboard settings, check the boot order. Make sure that you have set the optical drive correctly. If you are interested in a UEFI installation, don't forget to enable the EFI setting.
Step 11: In the System & CPU settings, set the number of processors for the VM to 4 or more to help everything run well.
Step 12: To enhance the experience with 3D graphics, enable the Acceleration option in your Display settings. You can also set the Video Memory value to 256 MB for optimal performance.
Step 13: You can turn on the I/O Cache for the SATA controller, which can help things run faster! Don't forget to set the Windows81.vdi virtual disk file to SSD to make it work better. When you're ready, just click Blank, then click the DVD icon to add the Windows ISO file and begin.
Step 14: After installing your Windows 8 VM, click the Start button to begin the installation process.
