Step 1: Before you get started, feel free to download Windows 7 SP1 x64 from the link below. If you prefer, you can also search for the operating system from a reliable source on your own.

Step 2: To get started, launch the Oracle VM app. Then, go ahead and click on the New icon in the VirtualBox menu. And remember, you can also use shortcut keys to easily access its helpful wizard!
Step 3: Now, you must type "Windows7" in the Name box in the Name & OS section. You will set the VirtualBox Type and Version automatically. Feel free to choose a separate folder from the Machine Folder. Plus, using an SSD can help it run faster.
Step 4: You must pick the RAM size that suits your needs for your Windows 7 VM. It is vital to match it with the memory size of your primary PC. For your good jobs, I advise preferring at least 4 GB. Plus, the more value you choose, the faster your OS will run.
Step 5: Open the HDD window and create a new vdisk. This will provide you with a nice piece of storage slot for your Windows 7 virtual machine. The option to create an emulated hard disk helps you move forward safely. If you already have a Win7 virtual disk, you can add it. Then, you can continue by choosing to add an existing HDD.
Step 6: First, choose the VDI option in the Hard Disk File Type window. This option is checked by default. You can also select other disk formats like VHD and VMDK. Microsoft uses VHD. Programs like VMware Workstation use VMDK. But if you are using Oracle VM software, VDI is the best option that developers have suggested.
Step 7: First, open the File Location & Size window. Here, you can find your virtual HDD. If you want to pick a new place on your PC, click the folder icon. Then, you must decide where you want to save it so it gives 32 GB for the Win7 VM. If you're looking for improved control, think of boosting the disk size.
Step 8: To get started, create a Windows 7 virtual OS. Once that's done, click on Settings. After that, feel free to add the ISO file to your VM. For a better experience, change some necessary settings to make it the way you like.
Step 9: Next, let's open the settings for your Win7 guest OS. Then, go to General - Advanced and set Shared Clipboard and Drag & Drop to Both Ways for an easier experience.
Step 10: When you're ready, go to the System & Motherboard settings. Then, I recommend you select Optical Drive as the first device. Also, check the EFI box for an easy UEFI setup.
Step 11: Begin by heading to System & Processor. Ultimately, it's most valuable to make the number of vCPUs for the VM to 4 or even more.
Step 12: Turn on 3D Acceleration in the Display setting. This will help you get the most out of your guest computer. Next, set the Video Memory to 256 MB.
Step 13: First, turn on the I/O Cache feature for the SATA disk controller from the Storage. Next, you must make the Windows7.vdi virtual disk file to SSD. This will make it faster. Finally, click Empty to add the Windows ISO file. Then, click the DVD icon to start the installation.
Step 14: You have successfully prepared a Windows 7 VM with VirtualBox. Now, all you have to do is install your favorite Microsoft OS!
