Here are the steps to create a new virtual machine using VMware Workstation. You will also learn how to build VMware ESXi 7 and above.
Step 1: To begin, open VMware Workstation and go to the dashboard. Then, click on "Create a new VM." This will start setting up your virtual machine so you can adjust it to your needs.
Step 2: The New Virtual Machine Wizard will start and help you set up your machine. You can also choose "Custom (Advanced)" for more settings. This option lets you adjust the virtual machine to your needs.
Step 3: In the Hardware Compatibility window, pick version 17. That is, this will help your system work the best.
Step 4: In the Guest OS window, find the "Install later" option. After that, choose it carefully for an easy setup.
Step 5: In the "Select Guest OS" window, select "VMware ESXi." Then, go to the "Version" section. From here, tick "VMware ESXi 7 and above". Actually, this ensures compatibility.
Step 6: In the "Name the VM" window, type a name for your virtual machine. Also, choose where to store it. Make sure there is enough space. This helps the system work well and be easy to find.
Step 7: In the Processor Configuration settings, make sure at least one CPU is set. Also, check that you have an eight-core processor. This will help your system run faster. As a result, you can use heavy programs without problems.
Step 8: In the Virtual Machine settings, go to Memory and set it to at least 8 GB. You can also choose a higher value than your computer's capacity. This setting helps the virtual machine run better. As a result, your apps work smoothly and quickly.
Step 9: When setting up the network, choose NAT (Network Address Translation). This helps your device connect to the internet. It also shares one public IP address and keeps your network more secure.
Step 10: In the I/O Controller settings, pick Paravirtualized SCSI. This makes things faster and helps the VM talk to the storage better. It also speeds up data transfer.
Step 11: When choosing the disk type, you can select SCSI or NVMe. SCSI works well with old storage devices. NVMe is very fast and works best with new SSDs. Choose based on your storage and app needs.
Step 12: In the disk settings, set the storage size, format, and type. Then, create a new virtual disk. This step gives space to your virtual environment. As a result, your system will work better and faster.
Step 13: Set the disk capacity to 40GB. Also, all data should be backed up as one file. In this way, you will defragment the disk file.
Step 14: To keep things simple, keep the name and location of the original file. Also, do not change this information for easy reference.
Step 15: In the VM summary, find the "Customize Hardware" button. Then, click it to change the settings for your virtual area.
Step 16: Select the CPU device. Then, check all the things in the Virtualization Engine.
Step 17: To continue, find and click the virtual CD/DVD device. Then, choose the option to add an ISO image file. Find the vSphere ESXi ISO file you downloaded earlier. After checking that the file is correct, continue with the installation.
Step 18: Make sure to save the changes before closing the settings window. Then, continue to start the virtual server once it is done.
