The healing power of self-compassion comes from accepting our imperfect selves with warmth, understanding, and support. When we know our worth isn’t tied to success but is intrinsic to our being, we can relax and feel safe.
Self-compassion has three components: kindness, common humanity, and mindfulness. Kindness means treating ourselves with care, like a compassionate parent soothing a distressed child. Common humanity reminds us that struggle is part of being human—we are not alone. Mindfulness allows us to be present with our experience rather than getting lost in thought or resisting what is.
"Loving, connected presence" beautifully describes how self-compassion feels. It’s like a warm bath after a hard day, offering comfort and relief.
I'm sharing a Tender Self-Compassion Break to help you bring acceptance to whatever difficulty you’re facing. Compassion won’t erase pain, but when you realize you are more than your suffering—you are also the presence holding it—everything becomes easier to bear.
