How to #factor #quadratics when a does not equal 1. i.e. there is a number in front of the x² term.
In this video we will #Undistribute the #GCF then #UnFOIL using Guess and Check.
UnDistribute the greatest common factor (GCF) -this is the number that divides the three terms. Now we have: g(ax² + bx + c)
The answers look like this: g(ax + ?)(x + ?) where the numbers that take the place of the question marks multiply to the "c" constant term. Then re-FOIL the factors to check if the inners and outers add to the b (x) term.
When learning, it may be a good idea to list all the pairs of numbers that multiply to the constant term.
This video could work for #Algebra students who were absent, or in a flipped classroom.
