A venomous snake rare to California has washed up in Newport Beach with what may be a warning. LA County Museum of Natural History herpetologist Greg Pauly says the yellow-bellied sea snake is intriguing to researchers.
Pauly says only five of these snakes have been found around California waters and all but one of those was discovered after 2015. Pauly also says this is the first time a yellow-bellied sea snake has been found in California during a la nina year.
