Power BI 101 - Layers in Power BI Reports and Apps - Week 9
This is one of the most difficult concepts within Power BI to convey to an audience and probably one of the areas we have looked forward to discussing the least. Understanding that Power BI is effectively built to allow people to interact with it in such a way they drill through and drill down makes sense, which means considering it as a layered environment.
At the Top, you have Apps and Audience. Below that, we have Dashboards (the interactive menus of Power BI). Finally, we have report content. This is multilayered and multifaceted. Our problem is that it is nearly impossible to demonstrate the full layering without having you interact with our full environment, and unfortunately, that is cost-prohibitive. This video will take you through the principles; be sure to look at them and test them in your environment. Understanding how this works frees everything up for you to take your environment to the next level while also answering many concerns about version control.
