Humayun Mahal was one of the palaces of Arcot of Nawab.Chepauk area is the region where The Nawabs of Carnatic lived and ruled.The name Chepauk came from 'Che Bagh' which means 'Six Gardens'.Then the British named the area as Chepauk.This is now the area holding all government offices including the PWD.
Humayun Mahal is built in an area of 13 acres.Once was used by Government offices like Pay and Accounts.Then it was ruined by a fire accident.Left unattended for decades.Then the Government of Tamil Nadu decided to renovate and handed over to Public Works Department.Manickam &Co are the experts in renovating heritage buildings.
This is their 4th project.They have done this work to 100% expectations.
Planning to open this building to public in the near future by the Tamil Nadu Government.
