Zerpenschleuse
The ground vibrates and the sound of engines fills the air. Two barges meet and pass each other at the junction of the Oder-Havel and Finow Canal at Zerpenschleuse.
The Finow Canal is 400 years old; the oldest waterway still in operation in Germany. The Oder-Havel Canal, its younger brother, has been navigated since 1920 and is of course better suited for the large inland vessels, while the Finow Canal is navigated by smaller private boats.
