And God being a perfect and just judge can't just forgive you and let you off with a warning there has to be a punishment according to romans 623 the wages of sin is death and this is where grace comes in The payment that needed to be paid God paid through Jesus' death on the cross He gave us something someone we didn't deserve Jesus stepped into that courtroom took our punishment our death so that we could walk free
