CarPlay Keeps Disconnecting USB: A Physical Connection Failure Fix

If your wired CarPlay or Android Auto disconnects over bumps but your phone still shows it's charging, the issue is almost certainly a physical connection failure, not a software bug. This happens because the data connection is severed while the power connection remains intact. The data transfer, which happens on the sensitive D+ and D- pins, requires perfect, uninterrupted continuity. A tiny, millisecond-long break caused by road vibration is enough for the head unit to terminate the session. Meanwhile, the more robust power pins (VBUS) and your phone's internal capacitors can bridge that same gap, tricking you into thinking the cable is fine. The most common cause is compacted pocket lint at the bottom of your phone's charging port, which prevents the cable from fully seating and engaging its retention clips. Before suspecting your car's head unit, carefully clean the port with a non-conductive pick. This simple physical fix resolves the vast majority of intermittent disconnection problems.,
