Video is a follow-up from in class to Add a field to then calculate a crime rate at the block group level. To do this, population per block group was downloaded and added as a table to ArcGIS Pro. From here the table data were joined to the block group shapefile based on the unique identifier (GEOID). With the population data added to the block group boundary, we did a spatial join to obtain a count of aggravated assaults / homicides from 2022 in each block group. This allowed to add a Crime Rate column to then calculate a violent crime rate (Crime Count / Population)*1000
