Howdy y'all. Last week, January 13th and January 14th, I got to do something quite special in my book. I got to take one of Amtrak's most unique services they offer, the AutoTrain. For those who don't know, the AutoTrain is a passenger train that runs between Lorton, Virginia and Sanford, Florida that is operated by Amtrak. What makes this train so special is that passengers can bring their vehicle's with them. Amtrak loads your vehicle onto an autorack and hooks them up to the back of the train and unloads them at the end of the line, allowing you to drive your own vehicle on your vacation/trip. When this service was first created, it was run by its own company called AutoTrain. After the company went bankrupt in the 1970s, Amtrak took the service over after a few years of non-operation. Since there are a lot of videos showing what its like for people to take AutoTrain, here's a unique perspective. The point of view of one's vehicle!! Unfortunately, my dash camera overwrite the footage of them loading up the car, but you can see what the inside of an autorack looks like and the process in unloading the vehicle from them. Enjoy the show!!
