MIDI control surfaces come in all shapes and sizes. The most popular option is the "MIDI keyboard" which tends to look and feel like an electric keyboard. There is no requirement to have a MIDI keyboard but they're quite popular (personally I don't use mine that much though). In this lesson we set up a basic MIDI keyboard and talk about why it's more flexible than your typing keyboard. We also take an introductory look at note clips and how our performance is tracked into the Soundation. You'll notice that with a typing keyboard you can't play with any dynamic (loud or soft). However, with most MIDI keyboards you can and we'll see how this "velocity" is represented.
