We’ve covered a lot of ground in this section and I hope you’ve learned a thing or two along the way. Modular is not something to be intimidated by. If anything it should get you excited. There are no rules and there are no judgments. The wackier the signal flow, the messier and more tangled the wires, the better. You can learn so much about synthesis and sound design working with modular synths.
The temptation in the “simpler” hard-wired virtual analog synths is to scroll through an infinite number of presets. For some reason when you control the modules and you control the signal flow presets just aren’t as tempting. I believe that when working with modular synthesizers every decision you make and every cable you patch is a new discovery just waiting to happen. When it’s more about discovery and less about convention the potential for learning is at an all time high.
