Triangular and sine waves are generated using a DAC by sending a sequence of digital values that correspond to the desired analog shape, typically implemented via a microcontroller, FPGA, or, for triangular, simple increment/decrement loops. For a triangular wave, a counter increases digital input from 0x00 to 0xFF (ramp up) and then decreases it back to 0xFF to 0x00 (ramp down)
